Mrs. Fowler-ELA

Please make sure your child reads-aloud to you from the stories in our textbook.  This activity takes a little time, but the rewards come in their reading fluency and comprehension.  If you are having a hard time fitting this into your schedule, be creative and read in the car on the way to baseball practice or have them read to you while you are cooking, etc.  Just a little time devoted to this activity is really important.  Thanks so much!!

We will begin the next story in our textbook, Super Storms, on Monday.  This is a high-interest story about the weather and the kids really like it.

I will also begin reading  The Mouse and the Motorcycle as an extra read-aloud.  This series is one of my favorite for reading aloud to children.

Science opportunity

I’m attaching the link to a special event designed for girls wanting to embark on a series of scientific adventures and become junior scientists for the day at the Florida State University Coastal & Marine Lab! Participants will investigate how the ocean and atmosphere interact, gather and analyze data using scientific instruments on a boat and in the lab, all while working alongside female scientists. Participants will be able to take a boat ride out to the sea grass beds and collect marine organisms, utilize weather instrumentation, make observations, visit the wet lab and analyze data, explore research stations with scientists…and much more.

The FSU Magnet Lab is also hosting an open house this Saturday.  More information can be found at the following link:
