Sample Constructed Responses for Heat & Light test
Here are three responses I received on this test, which all received a 100. They all followed the RAPS process of writing and used an AWUBIS word.
One source of energy is the sun. It is our main source because it heats the Earth everyday to keep us warm. Now you know a little more about one source of energy.
One source of energy is the sun because it gives off light energy. The sun is our main source of light, but without the light we would live in a world of darkness. That’s one light energy source.
One source of energy is fire. It gives off light because I can see it and see a distance around it. Fire helps you see but it is dangerous because it can burn you. This is a named energy source.

Whigham School is collecting money for the Dalton family who lost their home to a house fire last weekend. The Dalton’s have 3 students here at school, including Jeffrey, a second grader. The donation jar is set up in the front office if you would like to participate.
Writing
The Georgia Department of Education has put out some samples of constructed responses on their website. These are third grade examples; unfortunately, they had none listed for second grade.
They have samples from basic to exemplary with the rubric that will be used. Please check them out when you get a chance.
