From now until Fall Break, we will change from our regular reading group routine. Instead of doing a story from our reading textbooks, I will be reading aloud our extended text (chapter book) for the 1st nine weeks, Amber Brown Is Not A Crayon. We will be reading a chapter book every 9 weeks to help students become accustomed to more complex texts. The students will not have a copy of this book to take home, but we do have a class set for them to follow along as I read aloud each day.
We will not have a spelling or reading test over this book, but we will be completing work that goes along with it each day. Upon completion of the book, students will be encouraged to take an AR test. We will continue with the next story in our textbook, Teacher’s Pets, after Fall Break.
