We had fun with our art project called “Value Cats.” The kids learned about creating value (tints and shading), painting, and using oil pastels for this activity. We will also be doing informational writing (a “how to” story) on this project this week.

MATH-Ask your child the “tricks” for counting by ones, fives, and tens. We are working on skip-counting within 1000 this week.

ELA-Tests for Meet Rosina are today (9/18). We will be starting our new story, My Name Is Yoon on Thursday. Please remember to have your student practice reading their new fluency story “Kate and Jake” each night.

****Permission slips and $15 for our fieldtrip to Challenger Learning Center are due this Friday.

Next week we will begin our new anchor text, Diary of a Spider. Our science connection will be related to spiders as well and will include an art project. We will also finish our current narrative writing next week, so we may be a little slower on getting through our anchor text. Our First Friday STEM day is coming up. I will make a separate post about that next week! Please make sure your child is at school if at all possible. It is very difficult to “make up” writing. Thanks in advance!
